Electricity is a serious workplace hazard. The construction industry is responsible for a large proportion of incidents every year.

Did you know that in 2015, 61% of all U.S. workplace electrocutions occurred in the construction industry? A total of 82 of 134 total deaths were construction-related. Electrocution is the cause behind 8-9% of all construction worker deaths.

This course teaches the electricity science basics and the ways electricity causes harm. Learn how to recognize electrical hazards and how to avoid electrocution. This course covers protection methods from hazardous energy, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols.

This course fulfills 1 hour of general elective credit toward earning or renewing your Site Safety Training (SST) card.

After completing the lessons and passing the 5-question final exam with a score of at least 75%, you'll receive a certificate of completion. You get three attempts to pass the final exam.

Note, THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

This awareness orientation DOES NOT QUALIFY YOU TO WORK WITH ELECTRICITY. Your employer must provide proper training, controls, and equipment to safeguard from electrical hazards.
