The most common cause of injury in a workplace is when workers lift heavy items. Back pain in construction workers is the most reported injury across all other industries combined. Back injuries are a leading cause of disability among middle-aged workers.

The cause of most major back injuries is handling and lifting heavy objects and materials. Lifting heavy materials leads to pulled muscles, back sprains, elbow injuries, hernias, and shoulder injuries. Learning the proper lifting techniques is vital to keeping you safe and healthy.

This course covers the causes of lift-related injuries. It helps workers understand the factors that increase their injury risk and teaches how to recognize hazardous overexertion. This course also explains the effective control measures needed to reduce your risk by presenting the "Power Zone" strategy.

This course fulfills a one-hour general elective credit. This credit is used toward earning or renewing your Site Safety Training (SST) card.

After completing the lessons and passing the 10-question final exam with a score of at least 75%, you'll receive a certificate of completion right away. You have three attempts to pass the final.

Note, THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.
