About This Course
This MSHA New Miner Package (Part 46 24-Hour) is a conveniently bundled set of 11 courses designed to help new surface miners and contractors build a strong safety foundation and support compliance with Part 46.
The training covers a variety of topics such as:
- Accident prevention
- Emergency procedures
- First aid/CPR
- Powered haulage and traffic safety
- Materials handling
- Confined spaces
- Electrical safety
- Miners’ rights and responsibilities
- PPE

MSHA requires new miners and contractors to complete 24 hours of training before starting work. Our Part 46 New Miner package is designed to help you meet that requirement safely and compliantly.
Every mining operation follows an MSHA-approved training plan tailored to the site. This 24-hour package can supplement an employer’s plan and may also be used to support annual refresher needs under 30 CFR 46.8, as determined by the operator. Final applicability, recordkeeping, and any other required components are set by the mine operator’s approved plan.
