About This Course
The MSHA Part 46 8-Hour Surface Mining Refresher helps experienced miners stay up to date on safety protocols and hazard prevention. The curriculum reviews surface-mining hazards, foundational key terms, and current surface-mining injury and death statistics. The goal is to refresh baseline knowledge, reinforce shared language, and ground learners in recent incident trends so they can recognize risks and support safer decisions on site.
Designed primarily for surface miners with at least one year of experience, the course can also benefit others on mine sites, office staff, contractors, and visitors, who need awareness of site safety expectations.
Each operation follows an MSHA-approved training plan tailored to its site. This 8-hour program can be used as part of a company’s plan to fulfill annual refresher requirements under 30 CFR 46.8. Because plans vary, the mine operator is responsible for confirming MSHA compliance and ensuring all other required components are completed.
Who Needs MSHA Part 46 8-Hour Surface Mining Refresher Training?
This course is intended for experienced surface miners and others who participate in annual Part 46 refresher training as required by their site, such as supervisors, safety personnel, contractors, or visitors. Final applicability, remaining hours, and any site-specific or on-the-job components are determined by the mine operator’s approved training plan.
This course is offered in partnership with Compliance Training Online™, OSHA.com and Compliance Training Online™, are 360training™ companies.
