About This Course
Confined spaces at surface mines can present serious risks even outside underground settings. This course helps miners, supervisors, and safety personnel recognize what qualifies as a confined space and understand the hazards it can present, including atmospheric dangers, engulfment, temperature extremes, and more. You’ll review MSHA confined space regulations and training expectations, then learn practical controls such as pre-entry preparation, engineering and administrative safeguards, ventilation, monitoring, and emergency response planning. By the end of the course, you’ll be better prepared to evaluate space conditions, follow safe entry procedures, and support a safer, compliant worksite.
MSHA training is delivered by employers under an approved plan. This course provides foundational material that can be incorporated into New Miner Training and ongoing education. Your employer’s plan may also require site-specific, task-specific, and on-the-job instruction.
Who Needs MSHA Surface Mining Confined Spaces Certification?
While MSHA doesn’t issue an official “certification,” this course is appropriate for mine operators, supervisors, safety personnel, and miners who enter or work near confined spaces at surface mines.
This course is offered in partnership with Compliance Training Online™, OSHA.com and Compliance Training Online™, are 360training™ companies.
