About This Course
Traffic hazards are a major safety concern in surface mining, where heavy equipment and vehicles operate in close quarters. This course helps miners, operators, and safety personnel recognize traffic hazards and implement practical controls that support MSHA Part 46 expectations. You’ll review hazard recognition, accident-prevention techniques, and safe traffic-management procedures, such as routing, signage, communication, speed control, and separation of people and equipment, and how these elements fit into an employer’s training plan.
Each mining operation follows an MSHA-approved training plan tailored to its site. This course can be incorporated to support annual refresher needs under 30 CFR 46.8, where applicable. Because training plans vary, the mine operator is responsible for confirming MSHA compliance and ensuring required training is completed.
Who Needs MSHA Surface Mining Traffic Safety Training?
This course is appropriate for anyone who works at a surface mine, including operators, supervisors, safety personnel, and miners, who needs focused training on traffic safety to help reduce vehicle-related incidents and support Part 46 compliance. Final applicability and recordkeeping are determined by the mine operator under the site’s approved training plan.
This course is offered in partnership with Compliance Training Online™, OSHA.com and Compliance Training Online™, are 360training™ companies.
