What Is OSHA 30?

OSHA 30 is a 30-hour advanced safety training course developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as part of the OSHA Outreach Training Program. The program is designed to provide workers with a more in-depth understanding of workplace safety and health so they can better recognize, prevent, and address hazards on the job.

This course is intended primarily for supervisors, managers, and workers with safety responsibilities. It covers key topics such as workplace hazards, employee rights, employer responsibilities, OSHA regulations, and safety management practices. OSHA 30 courses are offered for multiple industries, including Construction (covering standards found under 29 CFR 1926) and General Industry (29 CFR 1910).

The OSHA Outreach Training Program has trained millions of workers across the United States, helping improve workplace safety awareness and reduce job site risks.

OSHA.com is owned and operated by 360training, an OSHA-authorized outreach training provider.

360training.com, Inc. is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.  IACET is recognized internationally as a standard development organization and accrediting body that promotes quality of continuing education and training.

Important: OSHA requires that both the Outreach course and the end-of-course survey be completed within six (6) months of starting the course. If these requirements are not met within the required timeframe, a Department of Labor (DOL) card will not be issued.

Who Needs OSHA 30 Training?

OSHA 30 training is designed for workers who have a greater responsibility for workplace safety and OSHA compliance. While OSHA itself does not universally require the course, many employers, contractors, and job sites require supervisors or experienced workers to complete OSHA 30 training before starting work.

The course is commonly required or recommended for roles such as:

  • Site supervisors and foremen
  • Project managers
  • Safety managers or coordinators
  • Construction superintendents
  • Crew leaders
  • Manufacturing or warehouse supervisors
  • Experienced workers moving into leadership roles

Different industries face different hazards, which is why OSHA 30 training is available in industry-specific versions, such as Construction and General Industry. These courses focus on safety topics relevant to the work environment and level of responsibility.

After successfully completing the course, workers receive an official Department of Labor (DOL) wallet card, often referred to as an OSHA 30 card. This card demonstrates that the worker has completed OSHA Outreach safety training and understands advanced workplace safety principles. Many employers view it as an important credential for leadership and supervisory roles.

How to Get OSHA 30 Trained

Getting OSHA 30 training is a simple process. Workers can sign up for an OSHA 30 course through an OSHA-authorized Outreach Training Provider, like us, and complete the training at their own pace while meeting program requirements.

The process typically includes:

  1. Enroll in the specific OSHA 30 course for your industry (OSHA 30-Hour Construction training or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training).
  2. Complete the required 30 hours of training, which covers OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, safety management practices, and industry-specific workplace hazards.
  3. Finish the end-of-course survey within the required timeframe.
  4. Receive your certificate of completion immediately and DOL card by mail

These courses help workers and employers maintain compliance with job site safety requirements while improving overall workplace safety awareness. By completing OSHA 30 training, workers gain the knowledge needed to identify hazards, implement safety practices, and help maintain safer workplaces.

Need a Replacement OSHA DOL Card?

NOTE: Per OSHA regulations, you're only allowed one replacement card in case of loss or damage. To get an additional card, you must complete the DOL Card training requirements again.
