About This Course
Surface mines are among the most hazardous workplaces in the U.S., which is why every operator must maintain a written MSHA Part 46 training plan that satisfies federal requirements. This online course provides step-by-step guidance on developing a compliant, site-specific plan that meets the standards outlined in 30 CFR 46.3, the federal regulation that defines what every Part 46 training plan must include. Under this rule, operators are required to document mine identification and essential site details, designate responsible and competent persons, establish procedures for evaluating training effectiveness, and explain the teaching methods, core subjects, and training schedules used to train miners.
Along the way, the course explains how Part 46 requirements differ from other safety standards, what MSHA expects to see in an accepted plan, and when a plan must be formally submitted for approval.
By the end, you’ll be better prepared to develop a thorough Part 46 training plan to help protect your team.
Who Needs Making MSHA Part 46 Training Plan Certification?
While MSHA doesn’t issue an official “certification,” this course is intended for surface mine workers responsible for developing or maintaining a Part 46 training plan. This includes operators, supervisors, and safety personnel, as well as anyone involved in creating, implementing, or documenting an employer’s Part 46 plan.
